Early Evening Spring Ride

One of the best parts about an early evening ride on a beautiful spring day is stopping for a short break to watch an inning or two of Little League baseball. It sure does make a shitty week a little more bearable.

Love the pic. I’ve been following your blog for awhile, and have thoroughly enjoyed your writing and graphics skills. I am enjoying it vicariously as I have gotten a C spine disc issue that’s kept me off the bike and off running for over 6 weeks now. As someone who, like you I think, gets most of my inspiration and enjoyment out of outdoors physical activity this has really sucked. I wanted to tell you that your blog has had a big part in my trying to turn this into something positive. I studied as an artist for a short time before deciding to follow a more secure career path; your drawings have inspired me to take up the pen and airbrush again and do some art as I rehab this injury. Thank you.

    • Mark, I’m sorry to hear that you’re not able to run or ride at the moment, but I’m very encouraging of your possible solution. A small pad and a pen can be very cathartic at times. And it’s ok to give yourself permission to pause from time to time anyway; I enjoy just sitting under a tree with my pen and paper. Getting out of the house, out of the office, out of the car – to me it all equates to the same thing: get outside. Best wishes moving forward.
